ReLaX, A Week in Review

After a relaxing weekend, I am not looking forward to going back to work :(. The weather is getting nicer and it's making me want to wander around outside all day long! Realizing that all of the events I thought were this weekend (free sailing, free beer tasting, etc.) are actually next weekend... I had a pretty uneventful 2 days. I actually considered walking aimlessly for hours then eating lunch and buying 5 prints for the Kodiak Kiosk, razors and some film for a Holga productive day -- this says nothing of what I did yesterday which I am having trouble recalling. If this is my new found idea of productivity I am in trouble. Hence I am writing in my blog to pump up my productivity and allow my to consider my weekend an all around success.

I have to say this past week, although pretty awful work wise, was collectively nice and eventful (if you consider my work it would add to the eventfulness, but not in a good way -- I am still determined not to get into work on this blog). This past week I managed to win tickets to a Blazers lax game, a premiere of State of Play, and tickets to Beer Wars (Live). I have to say all of these events exceeded my expectations.

The Blazers involved some great people watching. I laughed out loud a few times -- once when the large video display showed a dinosaur (Godzilla?) stomping to we will, we will rock you? -- something like that -- for some reason it was hilarious and I wish I could find a video of it. There was also a point in time where a large child lifted up his shirt and pressed himself against the glass near a Rochester player and his pants were half way his behind... more sad than funny over all, but gives you an idea of the atmosphere. Having never seen a pro lax game I was a little surprised that it seemed so much like hockey -- a fair amount of fighting.

State of Play was right up my alley. I knew I wanted to see it, but I am not in to paying a ton to go see movies at the theater -- so winning tickets worked out well. Only downfalls were not having enough time to eat a decent dinner (egg and cheese from DD -- dinner of champions?) and then the strange homeless guy who somehow got into the movie and upon exiting down the escalating in front of us points to a poster of the movie and says, "I just saw that movie and it sucked. Worst movie I ever saw". This was as I was saying how much I enjoyed it... oh well everybody is a critic.

Beer Wars was random in the sense that I just decided to try and get free tickets because it sounded cool, I enjoy beer, and again I tend to be cheap so I didn't want to pay to see it. I thought the film was interesting and the discussion afterward was balanced and a nice wrap up. I'm not really too sure about the woman behind the movie... wasn't a huge fan, but she did a pretty good job.
